BootstrapCDN Partners with WebGL Stats
November 1, 2012 | Justin Dorfman
We are pleased to announce our partnership with WebGLStats.com. Their mission is to make WebGL developers lives easier by collecting RUM data to see who was WebGL capable browsers. Since our homepage get’s about 9,000 uniques a month (no where near the 50,000 per day max) we have placed the async code on our home page (index.html), not any Bootstrap assets (css, js).
What is RUM?
RUM stands for: Real User Monitoring. It is a passive way to record user interaction with a Web site. RUM is typically used to measure performance but in this case we are only collecting to see if the users browser can or can’t support WebGL.
What is WebGL?
- Firefox 4.0+ (Partial)
- Chrome 18.0+ (Full)
- Safari 5.1+ (Partial)
- Opera Mobile 12.0+ (Partial)
- Firefox for Android 15.0+ (Full)
Note: Support listed as “partial” refers to the fact that not all users with these browsers have WebGL access. This is due to the additional requirement for users to have up to date video drivers.
The collected personalized information will not be sold or shared with any third parties. It will not be used to track users browsing habits, and its sole purpose is to compile RUM statistics.
