New MaxCDN Office in Las Vegas (or Another Engineering Playground)
March 11, 2015 | Taylor DondichI started at MaxCDN splitting my time between our headquarters in LA and my hometown Las Vegas. When I joined the company, our team was fairly small. Four people in engineering, four in DevOps, and about 20 team members company-wide. From the time I started nearly two years ago, MaxCDN has more than tripled in size. Now we have 10 people in engineering, 11 in DevOps, and 74 MaxCDN team members company-wide. Because of this significant growth, I was recently offered the incredible opportunity to help expand the company in my hometown, the city I truly love. Today as VP of Engineering, I still visit our headquarters in beautiful Los Angeles on a monthly basis, but I’d be lying if I said it’s not great to be back home in Vegas. Not just because it’s home for me, but because it’s becoming a home away from home for our company, just like our office in Belgrade.
Why Las Vegas Rocks for MaxCDNLas Vegas is a hub for technology enthusiasts and innovators. It’s also giving Silicon Valley a run for its money as the #vegastech community is strong and accommodations for teams like MaxCDN are plentiful. We were fortunate enough to find a home at Work In Progress (WIP), a place listed number one on the #vegastech about page. In addition to providing a great space to work, WIP also provides tools for growth like learning events and a support network of experts and mentors. Where we are inside WIP: Through the doors ... Why MaxCDN Rocks for Las VegasWe have a great team here in Vegas. And as I mentioned earlier, we’re expanding, giving opportunities to techies and web performance enthusiasts in this lively city. Since opening, we’ve already hired a full stack engineer, someone I was voraciously hunting down since some of our team members made the move. In addition to employing some of LV’s finest, we also like to treat the Vegas Tech community to shirts and stickers and doughnuts.
What Goes On at the OfficeRight now, we’re strictly focusing on the engineering side of things for MaxCDN. This means improving our architecture, further developing automation, and focusing on quality assurance for every project we undertake … and making cool shit in general.
