Re: Customer Warning – BOOTSTRAPCDN.COM
April 15, 2013 | Justin Dorfman
When starting the BootstrapCDN project we always wanted to be transparent. That is why we always release a post-mortem when there is a service outage, and publicly display our analytics.
Last week we received an email from the Go Daddy (our domain registrar) abuse team. Everything was worked out and I was very happy with the support they gave us. Here is what happened…
First notice from Go Daddy:
From: email@example.com Date: Friday, April 12, 2013 Subject: Customer Warning - BOOTSTRAPCDN.COM To: [removed] Dear Valued Go Daddy Customer, We have received apparently legitimate complaints that you are involved in sending bulk unsolicited emails, newsgroup posts, or Instant Messenger advertisements for/from BOOTSTRAPCDN.COM. If this is the case, Go Daddy requests that you cease this immediately. Failure to do so may lead to actions such as the suspension or cancellation of service. Go Daddy may or may not be hosting your site, but we are the Registrar of the domain name. When you registered the domain name with us you agreed to the terms of our Registration Agreement. (https://www.godaddy.com/agreements/showdoc.aspx?pageid=REG_SA&prog_id=GoDaddy&isc=gdbb378) We'd like to bring Chapter 8 of this agreement to your attention: 8. RESTRICTION OF SERVICES; RIGHT OF REFUSAL [removed - find it here: http://www.godaddy.com/legal-agreements.aspx] If your contact information is accurate, we thank you. We look forward to hearing from you. Regards, Network Abuse Department Go Daddy
Dear Abuse Team, I just called support and they told me to write you. We do not send email from this domain, it is a free service that host a framework called Bootstrap for developers. We have no control on how they use the Free service, the same way Google doesn't have any control on how jquery gets served. Please call me asap [removed]. If this domain goes down we will have no choice but to move all domains off your service. Regards, Justin Dorfman
Support Staff Response Dear Sir or Madam, The current complaint volume does not cause a major concern at this time. Coupled with your explanation, Go Daddy will consider this matter closed. Thank you for your cooperation. Sincerely, Domain Name Abuse GoDaddy.com Hotline: 480-624-2505 ARID 1007
