We Will Continue to Support TLS 1.0 [UPDATED]
March 14, 2016 | Fred Madarshahian
The original version of this post announced that we would disable TLS 1.0 negotiations for secure connections on March 18, 2016. But after receiving great feedback from our customers, we realized that TLS 1.0 support is still important to them, so we will continue to support it.
One of the main concerns from our customers was the necessity of TLS 1.0 for older versions of the Google Android OS Browser. Our customers informed us that older versions of the browser were used by a small but meaningful chunk of their audience.
Moving forward, we will look for a better solution that accommodates the needs of our customers and their audiences. This could take the form of a “disable TLS 1.0” feature in your MaxCDN Control Panel or something else. Regardless of form, the mission remains the same: improve performance and security without creating friction.
What we learned from publishing the original version of this post is to involve our customers offline before making public announcements. This approach will let us get your awesome feedback and reduce any unneeded worry.
Again, thank you for your honest feedback, and please leave a comment below or start a live chat if you have any questions or concerns.
